3-11. PNVS TURRET ASSEMBLY REMOVAL (cont)
7. Move PNVS turret assembly (24) out of stow
(para 3-3) to get to first captive mounting screw
(25).
NOTE
Have your assistant operate brake control
switch while you turn turret assembly.
a. Look up at underside of azimuth drive
gimbal assembly large gear (23).
b. With right hand, turn PNVS turret assembly
(24) in direction of arrow. Stop when first
captive mounting screw (25) comes into
view. This screw is to the right of oblong
depression (26) in large gear (23).
CAUTION
Each captive mounting screw must hang freely
after it has been fully loosened. If not hanging
freely, screw could prevent PNVS turret
assembly movement.
8. Loosen captive mounting screw (25). After
loosening screw, make sure it hangs freely.
9. Move PNVS turret assembly (24) again to get
to second captive mounting screw (27). Move
PNVS turret assembly, step 7 above. Second
screw (27) will come into view after two gear
cutouts (28) have passed (about 55º of PNVS
turret assembly rotation).
10. Loosen captive mounting screw (27). After
loosening screw, make sure it hangs freely.
