3-11. PNVS TURRET ASSEMBLY REMOVAL (cont)
WARNING
HEAVY OBJECT
Excessive strain can cause serious injury.
Dont: Attempt to lift or carry heavy objects
alone.
Do: Get help for lifting or carrying objects
weighing more than 35 pounds.
If you experience a sudden pain while lifting
or discomfort after lifting, get medical help at
once.
CAUTION
Use extreme care when guiding cable and
connector through cavity in top center of
aircraft interface assembly. Do not drop any
objects in cavity after PNVS turret assembly is
removed. Exposed TADS optics in cavity can
be damaged. Lifting PNVS turret assembly
slowly prevents the cable connector from
catching onto sides of holes in aircraft
interface assembly.
NOTE
Step 20 requires three personnel. Two
personnel support PNVS turret assembly. The
third person supports PNVS turret assembly
and guides cable and connector during
removal.
20. Remove PNVS turret assembly (24) from
azimuth drive gimbal assembly (36).
a. Slowly lift PNVS turret assembly (24) until
cable (5) is visible.
b. Keep lifting slowly while one person guides
cable (5) and connector P1 through hole
(7).
c. Keep lifting slowly while one person guides
cable (5) and connector P1 through hole
(35). Hole (35) is in top center of azimuth
drive gimbal assembly (36).
d. When connector P1 clears hole (35), stop
