Using abrasive paper (Item 14a - 400 grit qand 14b - 220 grit, Appendix E) or a stainless
steel scouring pad (Item 13, Appendix E), feather the edges of the solid paint. Ensure that all
damaged paint or corrosion has been removed.
To minimize health risks and safety concerns, always wear eye protective goggles (Item 10,
Appendix E), a respirator (Item 23, Appendix B), and appropriate protective clothing when
sanding, mixing or spraying primer or paint.

As soon as possible (no more than four hours later), clean the area to be painted with paint
thinner (Item 24, Appendix E).

If using brush-on primer (Item 16, Appendix E), mix the two parts in accordance with the
manufacturers instructions.

Apply the primer (Item 16 or 16a, Appendix E) over the area to be painted. Apply it most
heavily in the middle and taper it over the edges of the old paint. Allow the primer to dry
hard in accordance with manufacturers instructions before smoothing any rough edges by
wet sanding and applying top coat.

7.
If using brush-on paint, mix the two parts in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
8. Apply the paint (Item 6 or 6a, Appendix E) over the area. Apply it most heavily in the middle
and taper it toward the edges so that the new paint is even with the old paint. Allow the top coat
to full cure as directed by manufacturer.
