CAUTION
Optics are exposed during this task. When
optics are exposed for more than 5 minutes
they must be protected from contamination.
Careless handling of equipment could result
in contaminated or damaged optics.
The PNVS shroud assembly window and
housing are fragile and easily broken or
damaged beyond AVIM repair capabilities.
Use extreme care when handling the PNVS
shroud assembly to prevent dropping or
jarring the assembly.
NOTE
If you are replacing PNVS shroud assembly
because shroud window is broken, you must
salvage the pieces of window. Observe
precaution on broken infrared optical glass
(refer to AR 385-11). Put pieces of window in
suitable container and ship it with the faulty
shroud assembly.
After removing faulty shroud assembly,
check NSA for glass fragments and
damaged components. Vacuum as required
to remove glass fragments. If damage is
seen, replace turret assembly (para 3-11 and
3-12).
Always ship PNVS window cover assembly
with faulty shroud assembly.
