d. Strap Assemb!y, Chin (Figure 1-6). The strap assembly, chin consists of two earcup
retaining pads, a chinstrap, and a nape strap pad.
1. Earcup Retaining Pads. The earcup retaining pads (1) support the earcups and
the earcup spacer pads.
2. Chinstrap. Constructed of nylon webbing reinforced with aramid tape, the
chinstrap (2) assists in holding the helmet in place.
3. Nape Strap Pad. The nape strap pad (3), located at the inside rear of the helmet
(beneath the lining, helmet, shock (TPL)), improves stability by reducing forward
rotation.
