d. Don and fit helmet to crewmember in accordance with TM 1-8415-216-12&P/14P3-4-201, to include
paragraph 5-8.b.
e. Insert the CEP connector into the mating connector located on the lower, right, back edge of the
helmet. (See Army MWO 1-8415-216-20-1, Figure 13). The connectors are coaxial and easy to
connect and disconnect. When the SMB plug is lined up with the SMB jack, press the plug until it is
seated.
f. Carefully pull CEP excess extension wire from underneath hood assembly.
g. Have crewmember turn his/her head left and right to obtain proper adjustment for clip device.
h. Slowly pull clip device toward crewmember's left shoulder and clamp to edge of hood. (See Figure
5-2). Verify crewmember's head adjustment by performing paragraph 5-9.g above.
NOTE
Communication test sets', such as DMH-1, standard range output readings for CEP
installed in helmet are microphone 4.00-7.00 and headset 7.00-12.00.
i. Perform helmet and mask operational checkout in accordance with applicable technical orders.
j. To remove the CEP, disconnect the CEP from the helmet; then remove helmet from the head.
k. Remove the AERP mask in accordance with Technical Order 14P3-1-151.
l. Remove the CEP from the ear by grasping the housing, not the wire, and slowly remove them from
the ear canal.
