Let the hydrometer settle. Allow approximately 5 minutes for the
temperature of the hydrometer to equilibrate with the temperature of the
fuel sample.

With the hydrometer in the cylinder, read the degrees API to the
nearest 0.1 at the miniscus cut point (Figure 2.19). Remove the hydrometer
from the cylinder and take a temperature reading. Record the readings.
