s. CEP Modification Kit (Figure 1-20). The CEP Modification Kit contains an interface
cable that allows the Communications Earplug (CEP) to be used with the earlier non-CEP
communications cord. The kit consists of the CEP cable (1), the extension cable (2) that is
used with the M45 mask, and an interface harness (3). The interface harness, which must be
soldered to the communications cord, has a connector (4) that attaches with hardware (5) to
the helmet shell and permits connection of the CEP.
