t. Maxillofacial Shield (Figure 1-21). The maxillofacial shield (MFS) protects the lower
facial area from flying debris. Latches on the right and left sides of the MFS attach it to the
helmet-mounted strikers. The MFS is designed to match the contour of the visors when either
visor is deployed. The MFS may be trimmed further to accommodate ANVIS goggles or aviator
spectacles if necessary.
