j. EOHSS Single Visor Assembly Module (Figure 2-8). The single visor (2) is operated via
a center control knob.
k. Sensor Assembly Unit Module (Figure 2-8). Sensors (3) on both sides of the module
housing enable the EOHSS to interface with Apache aircraft systems.
l. IHADSS HDU Adapter. The IHADSS HDU adapter (4) is mounted to the bottom edge of
the helmet on the right side (as worn) the HDU fits inside the deployed visor.
NOTE
When an Apache aircrew member reports to an Apache unit, the EOHSS module will be
mounted on the helmet. When the aviator leaves the unit, the module will be removed.
The basic dual visor assembly will be remounted on the helmet, and the EOHSS module
will be retained by the unit. The ALSE technician will perform all visor removal and
mounting as well as mounting/demounting of the EOHSS module.
m. CEP (Figure 2-8.1) CEP-equipped helmets only. The foam-tipped earplug modules (1)
of the CEP (5) are inserted into the ears before the helmet is donned. If the M45 mask is worn,
the plug end of the CEP (2) is connected to the extension cord (3) before the mask is donned.
After the helmet is donned, the plug end of the CEP (or the extension cord) is plugged into a
connector (4) on the right rear of the helmet.
