MAINTENANCE
PORTABLE COMPUTER UNIT (PCU) MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
NOTE
For trouble shooting and warranty validation only.
WARNING
This operation will ERASE ALL current contents of the hard
drive. All files or data on the hard drive will be lost.
The System Recovery Disk is used to restore the PCU hard drive with the original system software. The
Recovery Disk instructions are located on the back of the disk case, or you may refer to the RECOVERY DISK
INSTRUCTIONS to perform the hard drive recovery procedures.
Recovery Disk and Ghosting Instructions
1. Insert the latest PFPS Ghost DVD in to the DVD drive of a computer that has a DVD drive and
Microsoft Word loaded on it.
2. From the root menu, open the SOP Build Disk from Gost.DOC file and printout these instructions.
3. Remove PFPS Ghost DVD from DVD drive and insert into AMPS PCU DVD drive.
4. Follow the SPO Build Disk from Gost.DOC instruction for disk recovery and ghosting.
Defragment the Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
When unneeded files are deleted and others are created on the hard drive, the level of the fragmentation increases.
The WINDOWS DISK DEFRAGMENTER utility can improve hard drive performance by relocating scattered
file clusters and consolidating unused space for more efficient use of the hard drive. To defragment the PCU
Hard Disk Drive (HDD), select the WINDOWS START icon at the bottom left corner of the screen. Select the
CONTROL PANEL icon, then select the PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE icon. Under the
maintenance tasks provided, select FREE UP SPACE ON THE HARD DRIVE option and follow the directions
provided..
