3-1. OPTICS CLEANING INFORMATION
Optics used for FLIR operation are specially coated. This coating allows optimum FLIR operation.
Defective or worn coatings will cause poor FLIR operation. Optics are not to be cleaned routinely. They
are cleaned only by direction. Cleaning optics too often will wear away the special coating. All accessible
optics are to be checked for dirt whenever they are exposed. Optics exposed during a maintenance task
must be protected from dirt.
