1-1. SCOPE.
a. Type of Manual. Operator and aviation unit maintenance manual.
b. Model Number and Equipment Name. HGU-56/P Aircrew Integrated Helmet System
(AIHS), shown in Figure 1-1.
c.
Purpose of Equipment. To provide a custom fitted helmet affording acoustic, eye, and
head protection for aircrew personnel.
1-2. MAINTENANCE FORMS, RECORDS AND REPORTS.
Department of the Army forms and procedures used for equipment maintenance will be those
prescribed by DA PAM 738-751, Functional Users Manual for the Army Maintenance
Management System - Aviation (TAMMA-A).
1-3. DESTRUCTION OF ARMY MATERIAL TO PREVENT ENEMY USE.
Refer to TM 750-244-1-5 for methods of destruction.
1-4. REPORTING EQUIPMENT IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS (EIR).
If your Helmet need improvement, let us know. Send us an EIR. You the user, are the only one
who can tell us what you dont like about your equipment. Let us know why you do not like the
design or performance. Put it on an SF368 Quality Deficiency Report (QDR). Mail it to us at:

1-5. PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT.
To prepare the AIHS for shipment or storage, tag it and place it in its original container or a
suitable box.
