Select an armor insert that, when placed vertical on the block of wood, the top of the insert is
approximately 1 inch below the suprasternale location. (The suprasternale is the small indenture above
the sternum.) An insert which comes closest to 1 inch below the suprasternale location is your correct
insert size.

Fitting Vest.
(1)
Put on required flight, MOPP and/or cold weather garments.
(2)
Select a vest based on your measurements (refer to paragraph 1-8 for vest sizes available).

Attaching LPU-1O/P Life Preservers. The illustration below shows proper placement of LPU.
