Inertial Navigation System Flight
Test - Perform as follows:
Satisfactory performance shall be demonstrated by
flying over three checkpoints whose latitude and lon-
gitude are known. and comparing them with the iner-
tial present position readouts. The aircraft shall estab-
lish a low altitude. compatible with aircraft safety and
applicable laws and codes of flight, which will allow
accurate sighting of ground landmarks. An altitude of
1000 feet over waypoints and 10,000 feet or more
when between waypoints is recommended whenever
possible.
a. Inertial navigation system -
Set up, align, and operate in
accordance with TM 55-1510-
222-10.
b. TACAN update - Check as
follows:
(1) Key 4 - Depress.
(2) INSERT/ADVANCE key
- Depress. Key will dim.
(3) Right display - Check.
Display should read I--

INS is in the TACAN up-
date mode.
